In 2001, Sarah Cook's friends and family were inspired by this 8 year old undergoing treatment for Ewing's Sarcoma at the Montreal Children's Hospital (MCH). Sarah decided that she wanted to raise funds to get new pillows for the other children on the floor who were going through the same challenges she faced.
In 2002, a group of Sarah Cook's friends and family united to organize an event that would engage families with children of all ages, students and corporations to raise money to support Sarah's vision to renovate the in-patient hematology/oncology ward at the Montreal Children's Hospital.
Each year the event has grown in awareness, dollars raised, and participation. The Splash and Dash has also provided opportunities for young people in Montreal take on a leadership role and learn about the value philathrophy through volunteerism.
To date, Splash & Dash has raised just over one million dollars for 'Sarah's Floor', the in-patient Hematology/Oncology Division of The Montreal Children's Hospital. These generous donations have supported a variety of important projects, including a comprehensive renovation of 'Sarah's Floor', the acquisition of an Intra-Operative MRI, and Continuing Education for Nurses, among many other special programs and necessary projects.
